YARDO-SL Supports the first-ever National Youth Roundtable Dialogue
In Commemoration of Sierra Leone’s 60th Independence Anniversary, the Global Youth Network for Peace with support from YARDOSL, conveyed young leaders from across the country to take part in the first-ever National Youth Round-table Dialogue on the State of Youths in Sierra Leone.
Issues affecting youths were discussed, ranging from entrepreneurship, education, technology, etc. With vibrant young speakers leading the discussions, solutions/recommendations were also discussed as pathways to solving these issues.
Here in this photo, our Executive Director was delivering a statement on Youth & The Environment. In his statement, Mr. Jalloh first analyzed our environment’s current state, highlighting the environmental concerns and how they have affected our lives, physically, mentally, or socio-economically.
He further analyzed the causes of these environmental concerns and suggested solutions on how young people can help to mitigate these environmental concerns that include: deforestation, plastic waste, pollution, floods, climate change, etc.
He concluded by appealing to all young leaders present to have a rethink on how we treat our environment. He challenged them to join him raise awareness on environmental issues because as he stated, our prosperity is tied to the environment.
This activity was sponsored by YARDOSL under the Governance Program’s “Enhancing Youth Leadership in Decision Making for Effective Governance” project.
